The problem with tensioners that use spring tension to hold the chain tight (Surly, DMR STSII, Pauls) is that you can still get chain slap and even throw the chain on a gnarly downhill. They are also more difficult to install than the Convert. The second thing the Convert has going for it, and only the Convert has this feature, is a quick release mechanisim that allows you to take the wheel out without using a tool. Fix the flat, or take care of whatever it is you needed to take the wheel out for, and then when you slap back in there you just click the tensioner back inrto place and ride off into the sunset.
