Review Title: Great Carrying Pack!
Review: I love my Ergon BD-2 pack. I've never had a pack that simply disappears on my back during a ride. The less-than awe inspiringly titled 'flink' (flexible link) is at the heart of this pack. The Flink allows the shoulder straps to move with your upper body, while the pack stays rock solid and in-place. The harness is mounted to a ball that rotates in a cup on the pack frame, meaning that as you twist in any direction, the straps stay comfortably where you put them, and the pack stays put, supported by your hips.
I've ridden my local Bellingham Washington trails, Moab, Durango, Cortez, Whistler and numerous other areas. I love this pack.
Why only 4 stars? The main zipper has failed. It rains here, and it is impossible to keep all gunk out of the zipper teeth, even with a water-resistant zipper. The design of this pack doesn't allow for the pack to fit into a commercial sewing machine to replace the dead zipper. I notice that in the BC series of packs now available from Ergon, the zippers are located in different areas that might facilitate easier replacement in such a situation.
Despite my displeasure with this one flaw in the design, I will purchase another pack. It carries that well. I hope the next one I purchase will last more than a year!
