The 2014 Kona Jake the Snake cyclocross disc bikes are in! Using "disc" is to describe any of Kona's 2014 cyclocross bikes is redundant seeing as the entire lineup will be using disc brakes (and they're not alone). 2014 solidifies the fact that the disc brake movement is coming whether you like it or not and the cyclocross category is the latest to fall under their spell. With all the awesome new mechanical and hydraulic options we've seen pop up over the summer, it's nice to see them spec'd on some bikes. For the most part Bikeman likes it.
The Jake the Snake, or JTS as it's affectionately known to those who haven't the time to say the whole name, has a history of nice little refinements every year. 2013 saw the addition of internal shifter cable routing and in 2012 they added a tapered steer to the all carbon fork and PF30 bottom bracket. For 2014 they have further refined the already legendary balanced ride characteristics by slimming down the seatstays for vertical compliance while bulking up the chainstays to make it laterally and literally awesomer.
On top of that they added fender mounts to the back of the fork legs so you can let your JTS lust spill over into the realm of commuting and gravel grinding. And lastly, they changed up the internal cable routing a bit so that you can run Shimano Di2 with ease. A JTS with Ultegra Di2 would be pretty awesome (and reasonably priced) would it not?
Bikeman can't sell you a complete current model year bike due to dealer agreements and whatnot, but we will have framesets availablle in time for the 2013 cross season, so sit tight. If you like the Jake the Snake and can't wait for the disc framesets to come in, or maybe you're just not into disc brakes, you're in luck! We have full size runs of the 2012 and 2013 framesets in stock and at well below MSRP!!! Regardless of which year JTS you choose, you'll be getting a great deal on a proven platform that will take you anywhere you want to go!
