Putney/West Hill MTB Race

I raced in the Junior Expert class against three other kids. I started hard, breaking away from the others, after about a third of the way through lap one of four, one racer caught me and we rode hard, lengthening our gap. This went on for about another lap. Then, disaster struck. Coming down a hill going as fast as I could, I lost my grip and fell. I suffered a huge gash on my arm and bruises and scratches everywhere. After that, my bars were turned making it an awkward ride for the rest of the race. The rest of the race I just tried to stay in second. I finished with a time of 2:00.59 on the 18 mile race. After all my problems and almost bonking, I was only ten minutes out of first place. To my surprise, third place was twenty minutes behind me.Nolan Kasper
