Day one of the weekend of cross, candy and all things Halloween. We return to rural Orange County at one of the rental ranches up the canyon from Irvine Lake. A slight cloud cover proves our cool, dry, and sun-drenched winter is around the corner. This year the course found a loose dusty creek and skipped the beautiful grass pavilion area. The balance of the event included the triple sand trap, barriers, and plenty of off camber sections. I felt the course grew in length by about fifteen percent. A late start to the day allowed for the famed costume race under the lights. Always an invigorating event, I only wish my camera could capture the joy of the participants.
