Belltown Classic MTB Race

Team Bikeman - Race Reports

ImageIt was my also my first day riding in New England with shorts. Team Bikeman.com was represented by myself in the expert 19-29 and Matt DeMeis in the expert 30-39. The course was a blast. Mostly singletrack and "widetrack.". A steep climb off the gun turns into great rocky , tight, and twisty singletrack, with some step-ups, slick rock, streams crossings, and great downhills. The expert and pro course also included a technical off camber section and wicked steep downhill cut and layed out by local pro rider Salem Mazzaway, fittingly called "Salem's Lot." Skills definitely required.

ImageIt was the first MTB race of the season for both of us. I wound up going right to the front off the start. Three of us got a pretty big gap by the top of the climb and were riding wheel to wheel. Three became two and I wound up following the leader for about a lap. He pulled away about half way through the second lap, as I had a bit of a slow down, but I wound up holding on for second place.

ImageMatt also had a good race. Matt was charging hard and picking people off at the end of the race, myself included. He also finished second on the day. So all in all it was a good day for Team Bikeman.com down in CT. It feels really good to be back on the dirt racing again.
