Bikeman applauds Kona again for their continued use of steel tubing. The Explosif frame uses the same shaped and butted tubeset of the Unit 2-9. For strength, durability and ride quality there is no better material than good ole' fashion steel. The Explosif 2-9 also incorperates the oversize chainstay yoke from the Unit 2-9. This allows for maximum tire clearance, an issue with other 29" wheeled frames.
Kona's mountain bike heritage fit perfectly into the 29" market segment. The use of a high end steel tubeset and the functionality of sliding rear drops will make the Explosif 2-9 an instant hit. There are rumors of a 29" Project 2 fork coming from the great folks at Kona. No definitive word on this yet but we will keep you posted.
